Job Advert Summary:

To Manage the plant Safety, Health and Environmental Management systems, strategies, policies and procedures, engagement and communication with management on adherence to SHE structures, frameworks and legal requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant Safety, Health & Environmental qualifications (B-Tech or equivalent)
  • Valid Code 08 drivers licence

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To champion the implementation and maintenance of the Health and Safety Principles and processes
  • To monitor compliance to the Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • To assist, assess and advise line management in compliance
  • To assist, assess and advise management of potential safety and health related risks
  • Compilation of statutory reports
  • To implement corrective measures towards compliance
  • Support and enforce a culture of Zero Harm
  • To ensure the identification, analysis, control and assessment of process hazards
  • To analyse and learn from incidents
  • To identify the shortcomings in behaviour and standards related to health and safety
  • To ensure quality governance in terms of Occupational Health and Hygiene and Safety
  • Implementation and maintenance of Rail Safety Permit requirements
  • Implementation and maintenance of Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness
  • Auditing of integrated ISO standards (systems and workshops)
  • Occupational Health and Hygiene requirements for mining sites
  • Measuring and controlling asset performance (people and capital)
  • Keen interest in SHE Management
  • Computer literate
  • Good communicator written and verbal
  • Work independently, passionate selfdriven person
  • Trustworthy
  • Sound knowledge of legislation applicable to the work environment
  • Good knowledge of all relevant SHE management standards, local and international
  • Safety Technical Knowledge and Skills
  • Impact of Human factors and safety culture
  • Be tenacious with enforcing of minimum health and safety requirements
  • Be assertive
  • Above average communication skills
  • Ability to liaise with authorities
  • Preparations of presentations
  • Technical Engineering aptitude and understanding
  • Ability to guide line functions in legal compliance issues
  • Task/risk assessment evaluations at the work face
  • Ability to coach and guide employees
