    Job Title: Engineering Manager Operations

    This is a key leadership role that forms part of the Senior Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the asset management strategy for group Smelters in order to reduce operational and business risks and protect the capital assets of Anglo American.

    The role requires strategic thinking, strong technical expertise and effective leadership skills. You will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that engineering services, infrastructure and maintenance strategies are aligned with business objectives.

    In addition to your technical expertise, you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organization.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Safety Leadership: Provide visible felt leadership in safety, sustainable development and Anglo American values.
    • Operational Planning: Contribute to the development of strategic operational plans and strategy.
    • Engineering Maintenance: Develop, implement and monitor engineering maintenance, risk and operational strategies and plans. Provide and oversee engineering services, infrastructure (roads, power, water).
    • Equipment Availability: Ensure equipment availability are adequate and maintained to meet operational goals.
    • Resource Management: Lead and manage resources to deliver production targets and projects as required.
    • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices.
    • Stakeholder Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders.
    • Continuous Improvement: Manage, implement and contribute to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives and projects for engineering processes.

    About You:

    To succeed in this role, you will need:

    • Degree or National Diploma in Engineering
    • Government Certificate of Competency Factories
    • Ten years post Engineering qualification experience with seven years in a processing plant
    • Five years managerial experience
    • Experience in the maintenance of a Pyrometallurgy processing plants will be advantageous
