- Regulatory exam and formal degree in risk management or short-term insurance;
- Formal law degree preferred;
- A minimum of 5-10 years' relevant work experience in claims validations and settlement, or experience in a law firm specializing in dispute resolution, litigation, and insurance;
- At least 5 years' experience in Liability claims;
- Experience in litigious matters;
- Mandated to make claims settlement determinations for large losses and/or complex commercial claims (over R 2 million);
- Work experience within a licensed short-term insurer, or Underwriting Manager;
- Sound technical knowledge of short-term insurance product wording, including niche products such as Marine and Engineering;
- Experience in complaints resolution (Regulatory and OSTI related);
- Review and approval of rejections;
- Participation in operational claims management meetings;
- Key guidance, advice, and recommendations for improvement in policy wordings;
