Description

The Maintenance Manager leads and manages all assigned production operations, responsible for safety, quality, planning, productivity, people management, cost management and continuous improvement for all equipment operations.

This position serves as strategic leader, coach, and driver of Dr Oetker's strategic initiatives in the plant.

The Maintenance Manager will be required to Implement and manage the asset management strategy, provide continuous improvement by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in asset management training, working practices and processes.


WHAT THE ROLE ENTAILS

  • Ensure safety : Prioritize safety by fostering responsibility among employees, ensuring a safety first approach in all activities. Lead the plant safety team, personally adhering to workplace safety standards, emphasizing employee well being, proper equipment use, and compliance with environmental standards.
  • Enhance quality: Streamline production by emphasizing quality integration over inspections. Meet plant quality standards, actively participate in quality initiatives, and address corrective actions to foster a quality oriented culture. Collaborate with the QA Department to manage deviations and jointly pursue quality objectives.
  • Asset Care: Improve asset care strategies and capacity for the plant's machinery and utilities by leveraging technologies, people, contractors, and SLA partners emphasizing a proactive approach including all Utilities.
  • Monitor performance metrics: Establish, monitor, and achieve plant operating metrics and asset care budget. Set and oversee annual goals and objectives, communicate Key Performance Indicator (KPI) goals, and ensure accountability across departments.
  • Manage capacity and throughput: Work with Plant Management to optimize plant efficiencies and meet planned demands by managing plant capacity and capability.
  • People Development: Build and manage a high performing team by instilling ownership of asset and production objectives through selection, performance assessments, talent management, training, and development. Lead the team to execute short and long term plant strategies.
  • Comply with regulations : Ensure conformity to relevant legislations, regulations, and standards, and adhere to health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Equipment Optimization: Standard procedures are followed to optimize equipment performance and ensure product quality. The focus is on achieving all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) associated with equipment and production processes.
  • Contribute to upgrades : Participate in identifying key asset upgrades and contribute to CAPEX project planning and implementation.

Preferred Experience & Qualification

  • A tertiary qualification related to BSC/BENG Mechanical / Electrical engineering or relevant NQF level 7 qualification
  • 5 10 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry
  • High level of numeracy and budgeting understanding
  • Staff management experience
  • Good at MS office including Excel and other Programs

Salary:
R50 000,00 - R80 000,00 per month

  • Bachelors (preferred)

Food Manufacturing: 5 years (required)
