Job Opportunity

A transformative Group Treasury capability is being designed and implemented for Sanlam. This role will play a pivotal part in shaping and implementing best-in-class treasury practices from the ground up.

This position involves developing and implementing new treasury capabilities across the Sanlam Group. It also entails managing day-to-day treasury operations as they are established and integrated into standard business practices.

The role reports directly to the Head: Group Actuarial, Risk & BSM Strategic Projects due to its strategic importance.

Requirements for Success

Success in this role requires a highly motivated and results-oriented individual with a strong understanding of treasury principles and proven experience in implementing treasury strategies.

The initial focus will be on designing and implementing treasury capabilities across the Group, transitioning over time to managing and optimising group-wide capital, funding, and liquidity through day-to-day treasury operations and risk management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Deliverables

• Design and implement a best-in-class Group Treasury capability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement the long-term treasury strategy.
• Conduct market analysis and competitor benchmarking to identify best practices and emerging trends in treasury management.
• Lead workstreams providing input into the design and implementation of the Group Treasury operating model.
• Develop treasury policies, frameworks, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
• Support the TMS requirements specification, vendor selection, and system implementation process.
• Manage operational activities and processes, and reporting requirements as they transition into BAU.
• Manage the company's cash, funding, and liquidity position.

Qualifications and Experience

• CA(SA) or similar degree within Finance or Economics, with more than 7 years' experience.
• Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in treasury or a related financial role within the insurance or financial services industry.
• Professional certifications such as CTP, CFA or FRM will be an advantage.
