Job Description


To manage and participate in the Client Desirability Risk Management team conducting bespoke reviews on clients that may expose FirstRand to financial crime risks including regulatory, legal and reputational risks and via the delegated mandate make decisions on whether a banker-client relationship should be entered into or maintained with such clients.


  • Establish and manage budget, control expenditure and ensure the efficient use of resources.
  • Keep abreast of regulation and industry developments and advise on antimoney laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions within the group and establish structures to operationalise targeted regulatory risk reporting within relevant committees and forums.
  • Keep abreast of new trends and developments with regard to money laundering and combating of terrorist financing by monitoring changes in legislation and regulations to improve business decisions and reduce risk for the Group.
  • Positively influence and enable financial control, governance and compliance throughout area of specialisation to prevent and reduce financial costs to increase efficiency.
  • Participate in key decisionmaking bodies impacted by client desirability risk management to advise the business on compliance risks.
  • Implement, monitor and control business processes according to quality standards; policy; and compliance and governance requirements in area of accountability.
  • Ensure the development, alignment, mapping and implementation of endtoend processes aligned to the customer journey.
  • Research, enable and consult on improvements and opportunities to harness technology, data and platform enablement.
  • Review existing processes and suggest innovative ideas to improve and streamline processes to drive efficiencies and minimise redundancy.
  • Monitor customer feedback reports and align processes to maximise efficiencies.
