Inpower Generators is a subsidiary of the Faircape Group of companies who have been active in the Western Cape market for almost 40 years.

Inpower Generators supply, install, maintain and finance large-scale Commercial and Industrial Diesel Generators.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated
Generator Technician for our Generator division to join our team. If you have a passion for precision, problem-solving, and mechanical excellence, then this opportunity is perfect for you.


As a Generator Technician you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our machinery and equipment.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Emergency Generator & Refuelling Management:

  • Manage monthly generator inspections, test runs, load tests, tracking of replacement parts, remote monitoring and oversee new generator installations.
  • Inspections of generators and refuelling of generators and general housekeeping of the generators.
  • Managing the scheduling for annual services.
  • Monthly generator management reports.
  • Attend to minor generator repairs.
  • Arrange for the acquisition of diesel supplies and arrange for delivery thereof.
  • Provide reconciliation of diesel purchase to the diesel supplied
  • Attend generator failures during normal and after hours.
  • Keep record of company vehicle refuelling.
  • Daily routine generator monitoring system checks.
  • Ensure that newly installed remote equipment and installations are up to standard
  • Meet contractors on site to oversee Installation

Technical & General Support:

  • General investigations on site to assist with queries
  • Site investigations and reporting for new generator services.
  • Keep record of quantity of materials used
  • Oversee contractors and provide updates of project status in the absence of Technician

Qualifications:


  • Certification as a Millwright based on national standards
  • N4/N5 mechanical engineering / electrical experience an advantage

Experience and Knowledge:


  • Proven experience as a millwright or similar job.
  • Handson experience working on generators
  • Good at adhering to strict safety guidelines and cognizant of safety risks
  • Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve generator issues

  • Mechanical and technical aptitude required for generator management

  • Inspect and evaluate the quality of products.

  • Determine the tools and equipment needed to do a job.

Specific Requirements

  • Valid driver's license is essential
  • Valid driver's license with PrDP 'D' highly advantageous for the delivery of diesel
  • The ability to reverse with a bowser/trailer will be required.
  • Solid and positive references
  • Be flexible to work after hours in case of emergency
  • Clear health record
  • Clear credit record
  • No criminal record
We offer Barista produced coffee available all day to all our staff at Claremont.

Normal working hours are Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 until 17h00 with a 45 minute lunch break. The company allows employees, by approval of the direct manager, to work flexi time between 07h00 and 18h00.


With centrally located and modern offices just across from Cavendish in Claremont, Faircape offers a market-related salary from R R35 000 Cost to Company per month.
