    Responsibilities

    Key Expectations

    We are seeking a Logistics Operations Supervisor to enhance our vibrant team. This role is pivotal in overseeing daily warehouse functions and will report directly to the Distribution Center Manager. The responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing comprehensive warehouse operations, including inventory reception, storage, picking, packing, and loading.
  • Optimizing freight through effective load planning and scheduling to achieve targeted turnaround times.
  • Managing all aspects of warehouse picking and loading for both inbound and outbound distribution.
  • Developing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to meet operational goals.
  • Analyzing KPI reports to identify deviations from targets and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensuring proper use and maintenance of all material handling equipment (MHE) for maximum efficiency.
  • Upholding safe working conditions and a conducive environment.
  • Implementing FIFO procedures to ensure product freshness through SAP EWM.
  • Ensuring overall warehouse throughput and productivity.
  • Safeguarding the security and accuracy of the Warehouse Management System.
  • Effectively managing warehouse space for inbound and outbound materials while ensuring shipment accuracy.
  • Supporting distribution and supply chain cost management initiatives.
  • Communicating effectively with all business stakeholders across various levels.
  • Fostering team engagement and ensuring adherence to occupational health and safety standards.
  • Operational Excellence:

  • Defining warehouse processes using the SIPOC model.
  • Establishing clear performance indicators and process maps.
  • Developing effective standard operating procedures (SOPs) for critical tasks.
  • Creating sound service level agreements (SLAs) for warehouse operations.
  • Implementing effective routines and reviews.
  • Updating visual management tools.
  • Cost Management:

  • Meeting cost per case targets.
  • Managing inbound and outbound turnaround times.
  • Minimizing stock variances and damages.
  • Controlling pallet costs within established targets.
  • Reducing outstanding pallets to be written off.
  • Planning to manage overtime effectively.
  • Keeping absenteeism below 2%.
  • Limiting the use of contract labor to justified cases.
  • Overseeing all warehouse assets.
  • Service Excellence:

  • Achieving a 95% service level (fill rate).
  • Ensuring 95% on-time delivery.
  • Communicating delays promptly to manage customer expectations.
  • Quality Assurance:

  • Managing stock rotation to prevent write-offs due to expiration.
  • Ensuring 100% compliance with health, safety, and quality regulations.
  • Submitting key control feedback and sample results on time.
  • Tracking and resolving non-conforming quality issues.
  • People Management:

  • Providing leadership to the warehouse team.
  • Conducting monthly team meetings.
  • Managing staff performance and implementing corrective actions.
  • Identifying training needs for warehouse personnel.
  • Ensuring adherence to management policies and practices.
  • Overseeing contract labor management where necessary.
  • Planning and scheduling shifts for warehouse staff.
  • Taking disciplinary action for recurring performance deviations.
  • Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

  • A three-year tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • A results-driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.
