PKF Durban is seeking a Senior Quality and Risk Manager to fill this role.

SUMMARY

This position requires an individual with strong knowledge and expertise in developing and delivering quality monitoring processes related to regulatory matters. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to understand and address firm-wide matters relevant to the Firm's regulatory requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

System of Quality Management

Operational Responsibility

Execution, implementation, and monitoring of quality procedures and requests contained in the PKF Durban SOQM Manual.
Additiona internal monitoring engagement (all service lines) file reviews over and above that carried out by PKF SA's internal monitoring.
Process for retention and assembling of engagement files.
Managing process and final compilation of the IRBA fee declaration.
Client take-on procedures.

Monitoring Activities

Undertaking monitoring activities relating to quality risks and responses devised for the Firm's system of quality management.
Findings from those monitoring activities, including conclusions on the effectiveness of designed responses and any changes or additions required to the Firm's policies, procedures, quality risks, and responses.

Root Cause Analysis and Remedial Action Plan

Performing root cause analysis and remedial action plan requirements for all identified deficiencies.

Co-ordination and Management

Co-ordinating, managing, and reviewing ISQM 1 remedial actions and monitoring activities assigned to, and performed by, others within the Firm.
Day-to-day management of the Firm's ISQM 1 registers and documents.

Interfacing and Co-ordination

Interfacing and co-ordinating with PKF International, PKF SA, and/or IRBA in any firm or engagement inspections.

Organising and Co-ordinating

Organising, reviewing, and summarising findings from PKF SA internal monitoring reviews and the Firm's internal cold file reviews and practice assurance reviews.

First Level Preparation

Preparing all compliance-related annual returns and reporting.

Providing Input

Providing input into drafting of the Firm's Transparency Report to ensure compliance with underlying regulations.

Reviewing, Updating, and Maintaining

Reviewing, updating, and maintaining various audit and compliance registers.

Monitoring Regulatory Framework

Monitoring the regulatory framework for updates and identifying impact.

Management and Oversight

Management and oversight of the technical and compliance administrator.

Liaison and Attendance

Liaison with and attendance at relevant internal, external, and PKF SA meetings and external regulatory events.

Participating in Quality Initiatives

Participating in relevant PKF network-related quality initiatives/projects.

Other Duties

Any other duties appropriate to the grade and level of responsibility of the post.

TRAINING AND GUIDANCE

Preparing and Presenting Compliance-Related Training

Preparing and Presenting Compliance-Related Materials

Preparing and presenting compliance-related training.
Identifying areas of training based on quality control reviews and preparing content.
Developing and issuing compliance-related materials, guidance, and articles.

Updating Intranet Content

Updating and maintaining compliance-related content on the Firm's intranet.

QUERIES

Researching, Drafting, and Responding to Queries

Support and Advice

Researching, drafting, and responding to queries covering all compliance matters.
Providing support and advice to the Firm's management and partners.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and Experience

Registered CA(SA).
At least four years post-qualification/articles experience.
Experience as a Manager/Senior Manager or equivalent in an external audit firm.

Knowledge and Skills

A very good working knowledge of ISQM 1 & 2 and the IRBA Code.
A good working knowledge of relevant SA legislation and regulations.
A good working knowledge on the various regulations, standards, pronouncements, alerts, and guidance issued by IRBA from time to time.
A good working technical knowledge and experience in auditing and financial reporting standards.
Ability to interpret regulations and standards and how to apply the requirements in a practical manner.
Have a passion for compliance.
Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
Ability to deal with complex, multi-faceted issues and reach clear evidenced-based conclusions.
Deadline-driven with high levels of accuracy.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to write and deliver guidance and training materials.
Comfortable to present in front of an audience.
Have an elevated level of maturity, self-motivated, and able to work both alone and in a team.
Strong organisational (i.e. time and project management) skills.
Comfortable in a digital world when working or inspecting relevant areas using IT.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Microsoft Outlook).
Experience in Caseware Working Papers and Probe Audit would be an advantage.
Own transport and a valid driver's license.
