    Our activities include marine geophysical survey, sampling, and mining projects, engineering, technology development, and maintenance. We provide specialized diamond processing and recovery technology for the De Beers Group Exploration and Mining Operations.

    Job Overview

    This role reports into the Technical Services Unit (TSU).

    The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new technical software systems, enhancing and maintaining current technical software systems to ensure continuous improvement in operational efficiency according to business needs.

    The nature of the work involves innovating and problem-solving, requiring a high degree of individual contribution and practical as well as theoretical application. Travel to Namibian offshore installations for commissioning and support of software systems will be required.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Compile budgets based on operational, security, project, and organizational requirements.
    • Research and acquire software technologies to enhance effectiveness.
    • Document requirements to establish a basis for evaluating alternative business and systems solutions.
    • Establish business requirements through user interaction and reference to business models.
    • Identify high-level business problems and opportunities to determine inefficiencies, gaps, and overlaps in business processes.
    • Validate economic effectiveness of systems or solutions and new technology.
    • Design and implement technical exploration and production software systems/databases, coding systems with company standard development tools, deployment systems, user training, control system development and implementation, positioning and visualization systems, and project system integration.
    • Sustain exploration and production systems/databases according to agreed Service Level Agreements.
    • Manage Change Control procedures according to agreed standards and practices.
    • Ensure adherence to the company's environmental management program and that objectives are implemented according to statutory legislation and the Strategic Management Plan.
    • Manage, develop, and maintain the organization's software, information, and systems standards.
    • Maintain stakeholder relationships by implementing and managing service level agreements.

    Requirements

    • 4-year Engineering or Computer Science Degree/BTec
    • BSc. or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, or related discipline

    Additional requirements:

    Minimum 5 years in Software Engineering and Systems Integration with a proven track record of object-orientated software development.

    • Minimum 5-year experience with software development tools such as Visual Studio Professional and Visual Studio Code, programming languages: C#, ASP.NET, Angular, and associated development environments, database modelling, design, implementation, programming, and administration of MS SQL Server, working with Microsoft Internet Information System (IIS), computer network experience, and knowledge of electronic communication protocols.
    • Strong analytical abilities, cross-business information systems integration, and change management.

    Role-specific knowledge required:

    • Knowledge of software development languages and tools such as C#, ASP.NET, Angular, Visual Studio
    • Knowledge of technical risk identification and management
    • Knowledge of organizational best practice software development methods
    • Knowledge of organizational software development standards
    • Electronic and software systems integration
