    Description

    Job Title: Non-Performing Loan Rehabilitation Specialist

    The primary objective of this role is to maximize recovery for the bank by rehabilitating the private sector non-performing loan book.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage high-value non-performing loans by reviewing and assessing turnaround alternatives to ensure the most financially acceptable solution is found for the DBSA.
    • Provide technical expertise to the Investment Committee and Board on turnaround issues, advising on bank-wide strategies.
    • Develop and implement turnaround/recovery management solutions to build a sound platform for recovering DBSA non-performing loans.
    • Prepare and facilitate the use of turnaround methodologies, tools, and techniques for distressed clients.
    • Work with turnaround specialists to maintain and improve business rescue and turnaround capability within DBSA.
    • Maximize recoveries in the shortest time possible while maintaining prudential limits.
    • Calculate Expected Credit Loss for Stage 3 Assets (non-performing loans) within the portfolio.

    Key Measurements of Outputs:

    • Performance against agreed targets, including value and number of Stage 3 Assets (NPLs) maintained within DBSA prudential limits.
    • Implementation and monitoring of turnaround/business rescue plans.
    • Achievement of turnaround times stipulated.
    • Management of relationships with key stakeholders.
    • Clean Audit.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or equivalent.
    • 5-10 years' experience in commercial/corporate business rescue, rehabilitation, and turnarounds in a banking and/or financial institutional environment.
    • Well-developed knowledge of business, management, and finance philosophies.
    • Solid understanding of relevant business legislative and policy framework.
    • Business Rescue/turnaround management experience and/or qualification.
    • Expert knowledge of credit risk and financial management principles.
    • Able to apply financial and risk assessment techniques to client operations.
    • Able to develop innovative solutions and identify new areas of opportunity.
    • Able to utilize influencing strategies for leverage.
    • Strong business acumen and strategic advisory experience.
    • Ability to facilitate, negotiate, and communicate at all levels.

    Desirable Requirements:

    • Post-graduate qualification such as CFA and/or financial or management qualification.
    • Credit Risk or Certified Rescue Analyst qualification.
