    **Head of Department (HoD) Role in Mineralogy Division**

    The Head of Department (HoD) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and technical coordination of the Mineralogy division, ensuring high-quality results and efficient use of resources.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Manage the day-to-day technical operation of the Mineralogy division, including maintenance and operation of XRD and QEMSCAN equipment.
    2. Optimize the performance of mineralogical equipment, achieving very low downtime percentages.
    3. Collaborate with management to streamline workflows, improve resource utilization, and maximize efficiency within the department.
    4. Assist in achieving revenue and profitability targets for the division.
    5. Develop and implement new methods and procedures.
    6. Maintain effective use of equipment and facilities.
    7. SUPervise and develop human resources within the department, including training, recruitment, and discipline.
    8. Promote client satisfaction by delivering accurate mineralogical data and high-quality reports on schedule and within budget.
    9. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in Mineralogy.
    10. Establish strong client relationships.
    11. Ensure timely invoicing for completed test work.
    12. Prepare proposals to meet client objectives.
    13. Evaluate results, troubleshoot issues, and maintain quality benchmarks.
    14. Adhere to all quality, safety, and compliance requirements.
    15. Perform other reasonable tasks assigned by the direct line manager.

    Compliance and Authority:

    1. Production Quality Management System Health and Safety Immediate reporting of hazards and nonconformities Initiating improvement requests when necessary.

    This role requires frequent travel between Bryanston and Randfontein operations for meetings as needed.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor of Science Honors degree in Geology.
    • 5-8 years of relevant experience, preferably with management experience.

    Essential Skills:

    • Proven management or senior supervisory experience.
    • Excellent communication, people, and financial skills.
    • Project management expertise.
