    Job Overview

    The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategies to ensure the organisation's financial sustainability.

    Key responsibilities include planning and developing fundraising elements, managing existing strategies, drafting funding proposals, and analysing fundraising programmes and trends.

    The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders, donors, and team members.

    About the Role

    This is a key leadership position that reports directly to the National Executive Director (NED).

    The successful candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising, CSI or related fields, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in proposal and grant writing.

    They will also possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement fundraising strategies to meet organisational goals
    • Manage existing fundraising strategies and databases
    • Draft and submit funding proposals to corporates and trusts
    • Analyse fundraising programme trends and provide recommendations for improvement
    • Develop and conduct training sessions to improve fundraising capacity
    • Oversee the Fundraising Reporting process
    • Work with the NED to identify and pursue fundraising opportunities

    Requirements

    • Post-matric 3-year qualification and a diploma or degree in fundraising, Public Relations, Business Administration/Communications or related field
    • Valid driver's license
    • Minimum 5 years' experience in proposal and grant writing
    • Proven experience of setting, managing and delivering on targets
    • Substantial experience in marketing, branding and media management
    • Good knowledge of traditional and non-traditional fundraising models
    • Extensive personal and professional network offering potential to raise substantial funding
    • Experience in fundraising techniques, especially analysis of fundraising and marketing data

    Essential Skills

    • Proven ability to develop and write excellent proposals
    • High level of proficiency in English
    • Understanding of local and international donors, NPO sector and fundraising trends
    • High level computer literacy (MS Office)
    • Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work after hours when faced with deadlines
    • Fluency in one of South Africa's 11 official languages (in addition to English)
    • Ability to make group presentations
