Description

Senior Operator positions are available at SA Steelworks. Successful candidates will support the Meltshop Department, providing essential assistance.

Responsibilities:

Perform basic mathematical calculations to ensure accurate process parameters.
Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain machinery in the production line process with precision.
Conduct daily inspections of the work area, reporting potential failures or unsafe working conditions promptly.
Maintain standard machine operating procedures when operating machinery, adhering to Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations and company policies.
Perform general maintenance and cleaning of the work area, enforcing housekeeping policies effectively.
Monitor production processes closely, analyzing potential failures and communicating solutions in a timely manner.
Ensure thorough shift handovers, reporting all issues clearly on a daily basis.

Requirements:

Matric certificate with mathematics as a compulsory subject.
Diploma or studying towards an engineering qualification.
Proficiency in computer skills.
In-depth knowledge of machinery.
Able to detect machine discrepancies accurately.
Prior experience operating FEL/Forklift/Grab equipment is advantageous.
Experience working in the steel industry is advantageous.
Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment.
Willingness to work overtime and shifts.
Compliance with health and safety rules and regulations.
Good communication skills.
Physically fit and in good health.

The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
