Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to ensure a safe and healthy work environment on construction sites in Durban.

About the Role

Develop and implement site-specific safety plans, including risk assessments and hazard identification.
Conduct regular safety inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Provide safety training and inductions to employees, contractors, and visitors.
Investigate incidents and accidents, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Prepare and submit safety reports, including incident reports, safety statistics, and compliance reports.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation, regulations, and standards, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders, including employees, contractors, clients, and regulatory authorities.
Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, as well as strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Requirements

National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety (or relevant field)
Registered with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) as a Safety Officer
2 years of experience in a safety officer role, preferably in the construction industry

$60,000 - $80,000 per year
