    The individual plays an executive role in the business whilst being the CEO's right-hand in delivering on the strategic agenda of the business. She/he manages and drives the delivery of the strategic and business development initiatives for the business. The role is fundamental in shaping the business and contributing positively to the OMAI P&L.

    The individual is also responsible to ensure that he/she works closely with the OMI/OML Group to ensure that OMAI adheres to the overall OMI group strategy. The role includes reporting on the OMAI strategic initiatives to the OMI stakeholder.

    Key Result Areas:

    Strategy

  • Define the structure and execution of the business strategy through development of work plans.
  • Manage the annual business and IBU strategy process.
  • Track and evaluate strategy against targets, make necessary adjustments and feedback to Exco.
  • Gather sufficient data, drive analyses, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Identify and develop strategic opportunities for the business.
  • Review feasibility of new markets and capabilities.
  • Provide short- and long-term strategic recommendations to business executives that are meant to develop and capitalise business opportunities.
  • Oversee strategic input of annual business plan working closely with OMI Group management/teams and business executives.
  • Design and implement new strategic approaches, ideas and processes with the objective of growing the business.
  • Evaluate overall performance against targets and make necessary adjustments.
  • Drive awareness and insightful analyses of the market and transaction trends.
  • Business development

  • Oversee and play key role in the inception, building and implementation of new business lines (IBU's).
  • Work closely with the new IBU to build out and implement IBU strategy.
  • Support new IBU's in settling into the OMAI ecosystem.
  • General business support

  • Support business needs that relate to strategic or business development outcomes.
  • Work closely with professional services and IBUs on general business needs.
  • Qualifications & Proficiencies

  • CA(SA), CFA, MBA or relevant post-graduate degree
  • Minimum 7 years investment & corporate finance experience
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent command of the English language, both in communication ability and in drafting skills
  • Good analytical and financial modelling skills
  • Strong leadership skills
