    Description

    We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-centric Cargo Operator to join our diverse and inclusive team at A.P. Maersk South Africa, Cape Town. As a 24/7 Operator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective execution of cargo flow, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

    Responsibilities:

  • Oversee end-to-end cargo flow processes, ensuring timely and efficient execution, while meeting customer needs and expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Global Shared Services Center (GSC) and countries to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards.
  • Coordinate discharge activities and ensure that no units are loaded unless cleared.
  • Manage transshipment bookings and optimize the network to minimize costs, while ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Handle all changes to discharge, load, and transshipment bookings, and execute all inter-terminal transfers.
  • Manage husbanding activities, including coordination with third parties, to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Monitor vessel operations and manage cargo and vessel incidents to ensure safety and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure timely and accurate release of vessels, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Drive cost-effectiveness in cargo execution processes and proactively reduce waste.
  • Identify and suggest continuous improvement possibilities in ways of working and execute cost reductions through the SmartOPS process within the team.
  • Responsible for special cargo operations and ensure customer-centric orientation with good interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to details, meeting deadlines, and time management skills are essential.
  • Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or a related field.
  • Understanding of terminal operations, berth planning & scheduling, vessel experience is required.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take independent decisions under high-pressure scenarios.
  • Strong customer-centric orientation with good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deliver results in a challenging, fast-changing environment.
  • Attention to details and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Time management skills.
  • MS package knowledge.
  • High level English knowledge.
