Purpose of the Job

Our Analytics team within the Security & Loss Prevention (SLP) Department is looking to
appoint a Team Lead Data & Crime Analyst. The Team Lead Data and Crime Analyst is
responsible for leading a team of Analysts within the Security & Loss Prevention Department,
in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data related to criminal incidents within the
Shoprite Group of Companies. The role involves supervising a team of analysts, providing
guidance on data collection methods and analytical techniques, and developing strategies to
identify patterns and trends in criminal incidents. The Team Lead Data and Crime Analyst is
also responsible for presenting findings and recommendations to key stakeholders within the
business. The Team Lead furthermore plays a pivotal role between the Security and Loss
Prevention Management roles, and the Analysts. The direct reporting line of this position,
reports to the Head of Group Security & Loss Prevention.

Job Objectives
Lead a team of Analysts (Data & Crime Analysts and Data Scientist), by providing

guidance, relevant training, and applicable feedback to ensure a high-quality work
output.

Develop and implement data collection and analysis strategies to identify patterns and

trends in criminal incidents.

Ensure correct report outputs are provided to relevant stakeholders weekly, monthly,

quarterly and ad hoc reporting.

Present findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the business, to

facilitate effective information sharing and collaboration.

Develop and maintain a culture of excellence within the team, ensuring that all team

members are motivated and supported to deliver high-quality work.

Support team members' growth and career development.
Maintaining service delivery by respective service providers
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as criminology, statistics, or a related field.
Experience
At least five (5) years of experience in data analysis, or a related field.
Experience

leading a team of analysts, providing guidance, training, and feedback to

ensure high-quality work output.

Knowledge and Skills
Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex

data and analysis in a clear and concise manner.

Understanding of database management systems.
Ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholders.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify patterns and

trends in complex datasets.
