Senior Data Modeler - Johannesburg, South Africa - Boardroom Appointments

CONTRACT ROLE
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop data models to support business reporting, analytics, and data visualization requirements.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT teams to understand data requirements and translate them into conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Analyze existing data structures, data sources, and business processes to identify opportunities for data model optimization and improvement.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data lineage documentation to ensure data integrity and governance.
- Implement best practices and standards for data modeling, database design, and data management across the organization.
- Work closely with database administrators, data engineers, and developers to ensure seamless integration and implementation of data models.
- Perform data profiling, data cleansing, and data quality assessments to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior data modelers and analysts, including mentoring and knowledge sharing.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data modeling, database design, and data management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in data modeling, database design, and data management.
- Strong understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional modeling principles, and data warehousing architectures.
- Proficiency in data modeling tools such as Erwin, ER/Studio, or equivalent.
- Handson experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
- Experience with cloudbased data platforms and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to analyze complex data requirements and translate them into effective data models.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver highquality results in a dynamic and fastpaced environment.
