SENIOR SPECIALIST: BIODIVERSITY DATA ANALYST

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

degree in Natural Sciences, Life Sciences (Ecology, Biology, Botany), Computer
Science or equivalent qualification with NQF 7 with 6 years working experience in analysis and remediation of data of which 3 years.
should be in a supervisory role. A postgraduate qualification with NQF level 8 is an added advantage.
Extensive experience in developing methods and procedures for complex business rules.
Extensive experience with global and South African biodiversity data management standards and schemes
Extensive experience in relational database management and related
web-based software systems, including but not limited to SQL, SQL server, JAVA and XML.
Some experience in programming with python and R.
Some experience with ESRI GIS software.
The candidate must be in possession of a valid (unendorsed) Code B driver license with at least one years practical driving experience.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a good spoken and written command of English, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

DUTIES:

Develop and maintain databases, data analytics and complementary strategies that improve the quality of SANBIs data.

Managing all ETL ((Extract, Transform and Load) processes across all relevant systems.
Manage all ETL processes across BIM systems.
Identify, analyse, and interpret trends and patterns in data sets.
