The IIE Varsity College, Pietermaritzburg Campus has a vacancy for a Lecturer: Journalism (Independent Contractor) within the School of Humanities and Social Science for following stream:

Journalism 1 : JRNS6221
Journalism 2: JRNS7321

Competencies Required:

Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Excellent Presentation Skills
Assertiveness and dynamism
Understanding of customer service in education
Demonstrate an ability to manage work and self proactively

Minimum Education Requirements:

Honours in Journalism

Alternatively:

Honours in one of the Humanities fields with Journalism as a major;
BJourn 4year degree in Journalism (NQF level 8).

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

Lecturing experience in Journalism required
Experience as a practising journalist writing for the online/print media is strongly recommended
Ideally, lecturing experience at tertiary level
Previous lecturing experience within tertiary environment is advantageous
Current industry knowledge is essential
