    Description

    Production Supervisor

    Our client, in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a Production Supervisor for their facility in Kempton Park. The ideal candidate will oversee the efficient and cost-effective conversion of raw materials into finished goods products according to internationally benchmarked standards and practices.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The following duties are essential:

    1. Liaising with the factory manager regarding customer demand and implementing the Pacer Plan.
    2. Planning and scheduling production based on customer demand and making adjustments as necessary.
    3. Communicating planning schedules effectively with team leaders and members.
    4. Ensuring short interval controls are performed at the correct times to meet production targets and maintain inventory levels.
    5. Achieving 100% MPSP and 95% PSA performance.
    6. Re-scheduling production based on changes in customer demand, unforeseen plant/component breakdowns, or shortages by collaborating with the Factory Manager.
    7. Monitoring production progress through daily discussions with team leaders and members.
    8. Identifying production problems and exploring possible solutions with team leaders and key team members.
    9. Monitoring daily production output and implementing actions to improve performance when it varies from accepted levels.
    10. Developing medium to long-term actions to improve production performance and reduce variability through continuous improvement processes.

    Quality Management:

    1. Maintaining acceptable quality levels according to established standards.
    2. Ensuring employees are trained and aware of required standards.
    3. Motivating employees to improve product quality during manufacturing.
    4. Reviewing and implementing corrective actions to eliminate quality deficiencies.
    5. Reducing quality defects by 50% annually.
    6. Achieving final inspection reject rates less than 3%.

    Plant Equipment Condition and Employee Safety:

    1. Collaborating with the Factory Manager on major planned maintenance requirements.
    2. Ensuring routine daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance is conducted on all equipment.
    3. Stopping the use of any equipment that would endanger employee safety.

    Financial Controls and Budgets:

    1. Measuring performance against reports and investigating areas of poor performance.
    2. Developing and implementing action plans to reduce costs.

    Improvement Management:

    1. Coordinating efforts in production departments to improve performance.

    Subordinate Performance and Motivation:

    1. Conducting daily meetings to discuss topical issues.
    2. Implementing corrective action where performance is below standard.

    Desired Experience and Qualifications

    The ideal candidate should have:

    • At least 4 years' experience in a supervisory position.
    • Excellent motivational and management skills.
    • A passion for developing staff to their full potential.
