Position Purpose


The Clinical Applications Specialist position covers South Africa and is responsible for training customers (Surgeons and Staff) on the approved utilization of Alcon products to ensure safe and appropriate use for optimal patient outcomes.

He/She will also have to partner with other Alcon functions.

Major Accountabilities

  • Provide clear and accurate documentation of each site visit via a standardized reporting mechanism (CRM Tool) within 48 hours of completion of the visit.
  • Identify and report all adverse events, device deficiencies and input from physicians to Medical Safety per company protocol.
  • Collaborate as appropriate with Field Service Engineers to support clinical sites on new installations, site support and troubleshooting.
  • Provide constant feedback to R&D on clinical performance of products.
  • Attend and support Medical Congresses, fellowships, conferences, exhibits, seminars, and wetlabs.
  • Achieve clinical certifications to meet requirement and scope of responsibilities.
Education

  • Optometry, optician, biomedical engineer, ophtalmic assistant or other relevant field/experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in ophtalmology/optics
Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience or equivalent years of relevant experience
  • Corporate mindset, team oriented, sense of quality, patient focused
This role can be based in Johannesberg, or other cities.

Traveling is required within South Africa (60% of the time) and for trainings abroad.
