About the Unit:

Yara Animal Nutrition South Africa is a subsidiary of Yara International.

Based in Umbogintwini, Durban, we are a reputable global feed manufacturer of high-quality Phosphate products suitable for both ruminants and monogastric animals on modern, high producing farms.

We have been a manufacturer of phosphate products since the 1960's and have always been the preferred phosphate supplier to the South African market with exports to selected countries in and beyond Africa.

Yara Animal Nutrition's operations in South Africa include a chemical raw materials processing plant and sales office in Umbogintwini near Durban.

Production Manager:

Management of production functions of the Plant which includes: Planning, developing objectives, cascading plans and goals, budgeting, developing policies and procedures to consistently meet agreed tonnage output on quality and working strictly within Safety Protocols.

Developing plant structures, developing relationships with stakeholder (Maintenance, Engineering, Sales, Supply Chain) and coordinating site management. Leading by decision-making, communicating, motivating, selecting and developing people. Controlling by developing performance standards, measuring performance, calculating performance, correcting performance.

Responsibility:

Develop functional strategy and plans for production.
Lead and manage production foreman who in turn manage all plant Operators. Provide leadership for production employees (corrective actions, development plans)
Ensure good communication on all levels, and creating synergy between shifts
Accountable to ensure production targets are met. Ensure resources and materials are available to achieve production outputs
Controlling performance standard, measuring output, calculating variances and forecasts and correcting production inefficiencies.
Drive and support all Health and Safety programs and systems in production
Provide support to the maintenance programs on the plant.
Ensure collaboration with other departments (Maintenance, Process Engineering, Projects, Supply Chain, HESQ, Commercial, HR, Procurement, Finance)

Additional Information:

Nature of the role impacts operational, functional and day to day activities of the plant.

Engineering Qualifications with years' experience within the heavy industrial and or chemical manufacturing environment.

Experience and exposure to dealing with large business units, teams, production.

Entreprenurial & achievement orientated with a proven track record of success in managing, leading, Manufactuing units
