The main purpose:
Responsible for effective control of all operating equipment, consumables, and chemical storerooms.


Reporting to the:
Back of House Storeroom Supervisor

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

1) Manage the storeroom

  • Work with allocated labour broker and ensure that regular counts are conducted, and the general upkeep of the storerooms is maintained.
  • Key control sign out and signin storeroom keys at control room at the end of each shift.

General management which includes but not limited to issuing, distribution and receiving of the disposable, consumable, chemical and operating equipment in the Back of House storerooms.


  • List products and goods in disposable, consumable, and chemical stores to be purchased within set product par levels.
  • Control goods receiving with reference to stock deliveries, totals, quality and signed invoices with goods receiving stamp.
  • Issue consumables / chemical products against receipt of requisition and ensure that all issued items are recorded for stock control purposes.
  • Issue operational materials from stores against work orders as per functions sheets and menus.
  • Ensure the placement chafing dishes on buffet stations are placed correctly and safely.
Monitor cleanliness of chafing dishes, buffet stations and other buffet equipment which includes glass buffet stations.

  • Ensure that all equipment is safely secured in the correct storage areas to prevent equipment losses.
  • Complete breakage reports and hand or submit to the Storeroom Supervisor on shift.
  • Maintain operating equipment in stores through regular daily inspection and report all maintenance issues to the Storeroom Supervisor.
  • Exchange information like buffet setups and breakdowns with coworkers in the Back of House Department regarding all outstanding work requirements.
Responsible for daily and periodical cleaning of storerooms and scullery areas.

  • Monitor and maintain customer satisfaction at all times.
  • Deal with internal customer complaints in a professional and timeous manner.
  • Respond to special requests in a professional and timeous manner.
  • Provide internal customer service in compliance with CTICC standards and Company.
  • Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Collect Labor broker staff from Back of House office for each shift in stores and scullery.
  • Conduct a staff briefing daily.
  • Schedule staff meal breaks daily.
  • Sign store / scullery labour broker staff in and out daily on timesheets, also recording lunch breaks.
  • Adhere to CTICC procedures when using staff facilities.
  • Familiarizes yourself with the Standard Operating Procedures relating to job function within the Back of House Department.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures related to your position.

2) Administration (in conjunction with the store supervisor)

  • Responsible for handover after each shift.
  • Responsible for maintaining and reporting on par levels in consumable / disposable stores & Chemicals.
  • Responsible for weekly stock take of consumable/disposable/Chemical stores to ascertain purchases and forwarding information to Stores Supervisor.
  • Responsible for monthly stock count of crockery, cutlery and glassware, buffetware and all other equipment within the Back of House stores. Information to be forwarded to Stores Supervisor and Assistant Back of House Manager according to procedures set out in Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Responsible for annual stock take of all operating equipment in conjunction with Assistant Back of House Manager and Banqueting and Back of House Manager.
  • Issuing of operating material and products from stores from Departmental requests.
  • Issuing of disposable/consumable items from stores against the requisition receipted. Securing operating equipment at end of shift after each event.

Minimum Qualifications and experience required:


  • Must have a Matric certificate or equivalent (NQF Level 4).
  • Must be computer literate.
  • At least have one (1) to two (2) years' relevant experience working in the Back of House Operations in an event management environment.
