    General Reinsurance, (a subsidary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for Senior Actuary – Research & Analytics in our Life Australia, UK, SA, Canada division based in our London,Cape Town or Toronto offices.

    Key Responsibilities

    This is achallenging and rewarding role involving multiple work areas for Gen Reinternally, externally as well as for our clients both locally andinternationally:

  • Support of analysis and assessment of life and health reinsurance portfolios for the purposes of risk management, experience study, planning and quotation using advanced analytic techniques.
  • Internal and external research relating to pricing, products, underwriting, claims, and other areas related to life insurance, including evaluating and understanding emergent risks affecting life insurance industry.
  • Providing practical and commercial data driven insights internally and externally.
  • Leading large research projects and surveys.
  • Creating presentations and developing training and presenting these internally and externally.
  • Marketing activities, including giving presentations at conferences and writing articles.
  • This is a role supporting business and clients in Australia, United Kingdom and Canada. It also means working with colleagues from the United States, Germany, and other countries.
  • Qualifications & Experience

    We are lookingfor top applicants that are qualified Actuaries with at least 10 years ofexperience in pricing and assumptions setting and associated research work. Applicants with experience in applyingstatistical and machine learning techniques in financial services or relatedbusiness to solve problems in practical and implementable ways will bepreferred.

  • Excellent actuarial insights and understanding of the life insurance industry.
  • Excellent online research skills.
  • Excellent commercial awareness.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively as part of a team, deal with people at all levels and in all areas of the business and engage with clients.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal and written skills including the ability to summarise and explain complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent skills in actuarial modelling, data, and statistical analysis.
  • Statistical software skills (R including machine learning, GLMs).
  • Excellent IT skills (MS Office, SQL Server, Working with large datasets).
  • The role is likely to involve travel locally and internationally.
