Description
Key job functions include:
-
Manufacturing equipment for practicals and field trips
Maintenance (including repairs, restoration of field research equipment, maintenance of CO2 cylinders and lines for incubators and ultra-low freezers, woodwork, metal work)
Administrative duties (filing, updating equipment designs, record keeping, costing, purchasing)
Perform any other tasks or activities falling within the general functioning of the School as determined by the Chair of Biological Sciences
Minimum qualification/requirements/criteria:
A matric certificate (Grade 12/Standard 10) plus five years of experience in a job involving hands-on laboratory and / or technical work.
Ability to design and create, ability to do technical drawings, ability to keep record and maintain stock (must anticipate Schools' needs), ability to interpret specific needs.
Computer literate (Microsoft office). Driver's license is essential. Willingness to take and act on instructions. Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills are required. Ability to work in a deadline driven and pressurized environment. Knowledge of first aid would be an advantage.- Detailed Description
