About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Ship Planner with approximately 2 years of experience in a shipping environment, preferably in a ship agency. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring vessel arrivals, communicating with colleagues and port authorities, and managing berthing arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

• Vessel Monitoring: Track vessel arrival and communicate with colleagues and port authorities to ensure timely berthing.
• Berthing Arrangements: Manage third-party relationships to arrange berthing and plan accordingly.
• Authorities and Legal Requirements: Handle all necessary paperwork and requirements to berth the vessel and manage crew needs.
• Vessel Operations Planning: Collaborate with the chief officer to plan vessel operations.
• Reporting: Prepare daily vessel operations reports and compile arrival and departure reports for all vessels.
• Scheduling: Compile a fortnightly sailing schedule for the local office.
• Administrative Tasks: Process invoices and perform other administrative duties as required.

Requirements

• Experience: 2 years in a shipping environment, preferably in a ship agency.
• Operations Experience: Junior function operations experience is essential.
• Qualifications: Maritime/Logistic NQF 4/5.
• Work Schedule: Overtime and after-hours work may be required, including public holidays.
• Personal Qualities: Attention to detail, stress tolerance, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to handle difficult situations.
• Technical Skills: Computer and communication skills, planning and organizing skills, and ability to use own transport.
• Professionalism: Professional demeanor required when dealing with third parties.

Salary Estimate:

R450,000 - R550,000 per annum based on location and experience.
