Job Title: Engineering Manager

Description:

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering function in the forestry and timber industry. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and supervising chargehands and artisans, planning and executing maintenance programs, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain machinery, vehicles, and buildings through effective preventative and planned maintenance programs.
• Plan, budget, and execute annual shutdown programs for major machines such as frame saws and boilers.
• Compile, present, and control engineering budgets.
• Research, plan, and investigate replacement and new capital projects, evaluating fixed replacement plans and feasibility studies.
• Ensure projects are executed according to project plans, within time constraints, and Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.
• Monitor quality programs for analyzing sawdoctor efficiency and manage sawblade, cutter sharpening, and maintenance functions.
• Appointed as competent person under OHSA, GMR 2(1), responsible for safe use of all machinery and ensuring statutory requirements are met.
• Manage fire protection, environmental control, insurance of company assets, and technical advice to the Forestry department.
• Ensure legal requirements are met regarding hazardous machinery and schedule maintenance tasks.

Requirements:

• Relevant degree or National Higher Diploma.
• A Millwright or Fitter trade qualification.
• OSHACT GMR (2) competence.
• Minimum eight years relevant experience in Electrical & Mechanical equipment.

Estimated Salary: R 800,000 - R 1,200,000 per annum.
