Description

Job Duties/Responsibilities will include:

Approval of incoming material by confirming specifications (COA, labelling, packaging) and conducting visual inspections and sampling.

Quarantining of non-conforming product.

Monitor the operations for quality and safety to ensure they meet the approved systems, communicating any required changes to the Warehouse Manager.

Monitor vessel discharges. Produce a vessel discharge report.

Monitor loading and off-loading of containers and vehicles, ensuring that proper quality inspections are conducted.

Coaching employees (tally clerks) on proper inspection procedures

Maintain detailed records of the testing that's been carried out, as well as relevant additional information, and various metrics such as the number of defective products produced each day.

Check results against specifications and COA's - report on any non-conforming product

Inspect operating electronic inspection equipment to ensure that all necessary procedures and products are inspected to a high standard. i.e. scales

From the data collected from inspections, quality control inspectors create reports for the quality manager of the company to highlight issues, detail the number of defective products being produced, and explain where improvements can be made.

Food Technology or Food Science Qualification / experience highly desired

Minimum of one years' experience in quality control

ISO9001 Training and experience is required

Numeracy skills - to calibrate and measure specifications

Physical strength and stamina - quality control inspectors spend long periods of time standing and may be required to lift heavy objects, so applicants for this role should be physically fit

Technical skills - to understand technical documents, manuals, and blueprints to ensure that products meet the correct standards

Detail oriented - to spot issues and monitor products that do not meet compliance
