    Senior Operator (Rolling Mill) Position Available at SA Steelworks

    Airport Industria, Cape Town

    We are seeking a skilled Senior Operator to support our Rolling Mill Department. The ideal candidate will undergo a skills test, with a minimum average score of 70% required for consideration.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform basic mathematical calculations to ensure accurate process parameters
    • Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain machinery and equipment in the production line
    • Conduct daily inspections and report any potential failures or safety hazards
    • Adhere to standard machine operating procedures when operating machinery
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to housekeeping policies
    • Monitor production processes and analyze potential failures
    • Communicate solutions effectively and timely
    • Ensure thorough shift handovers and reporting of issues
    • Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations and company policies
    • Implement quality control measures according to set standards
    • Follow standard operating procedures as assigned

    Required Qualifications:

    • Matric certification with mathematics as a compulsory subject
    • Diploma or currently pursuing a degree in Engineering
    • Proficiency in computer applications
    • Strong knowledge of machinery and equipment
    • Able to detect machine discrepancies
    • Experience in the steel industry is advantageous
    • Able to work under pressure in a demanding environment
    • Willingness to work overtime and shifts
    • Commitment to health and safety protocols and regulations
    • Excellent communication skills
    • In good physical health and fitness
