Concession Manager/FO Manager Lodge Couple

Concession Manager:

Scope of Work

  • Management of relations and act as conduit between the Game Lodge management, guides and Section Ranger of SANParks.
  • To minimize contact between guests and antipoaching on the concession.
  • To assist and advise on any security issues that may arise at the lodges.
  • Coordinate problem animal control between the Lodge and the Kruger Park Section Ranger.
  • Perform noncombatant security function.
  • Represent the Lodge environmental interests with SANParks.
  • To assist Resident Manager with concession related duties.
  • To act as fire protection officer for the concession under the Fire Protection Act.
  • Keep an uptodate data base of all environmental issues.
  • Ensure ongoing, responsible environmental management.
  • Coordinate EIA inputs with the Environmental Consultants and management.
As such the person filling this position needs to have:

  • FGASA Level 2 (Preference will be given to FGASA 3)
  • Full Lead Trails and at least 3 years' experience with guiding on foot (VPSA, ARH)
  • Experience in security and environmental field.
  • Firearm competency
  • Tracking & Trail certificate preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years working on a Big 5 Game reserve
  • Minimum 5 years working in a minimum luxury 5 star lodges.
  • Valid RSA Driver's License and PDP
  • Valid Wilderness First Aid
  • Mature and responsible
  • Well spoken, wellgroomed and presentable
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • A hardworking, cooperative manner.
  • High standards of service excellence and a passion for the hospitality industry, environmental management and wildlife preservation.
  • English and a second language, Shangaan, would be preferable.
  • Computer literate.
  • Excellent management ability and communication skills.
  • A clear understanding of basic labour law and disciplinary procedures.
  • Assertiveness, patience and good organizational skills
  • Be an effective manager of people;
  • Be mature efficient and personally well organized;
  • Have strong time management and selfdiscipline;
  • Ability to keep calm in stressful situations

Head Guide and Concession Manager:


  • Meticulous in all aspects of managing the guiding department
  • Manage, oversee and discipline staff in the guiding department
  • Staff training and development
  • All administrative duties pertaining to the guiding department
  • Have thorough technical knowledge and understanding of vehicles, operations and equipment. Strong mechanical background will be beneficial.
  • Follow up on Cartrak and monitor guides movement.
  • Allocation of guides to daily game drives
  • Daily Game Drives and Bush walks when needed.
  • Newsletters and assist with Social media and photography.
  • Allocation of Airport Transfers
  • Assist around the lodge in other departments if needed
  • Perform duty manager shifts when necessary
- hosting guests and ensuring the service shift runs smoothly


Front of House Manager.

Requirements:


  • At least 35 years in a similar position
  • Back and Front Office role in a reputable 5* lodge.
  • Diploma or equivalent in Hospitality Management (Beneficial)
  • Excellent Reception and Front Office control (working independently so must be able to manage all aspects)
  • Strong Financial sense and sound knowledge of procedures.
  • Strong Stock control experience
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of stock procedures and stock control
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage tasks independently, with good planning and organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Maintain client database to ensure all guest information/details are complete.
  • Excellent knowledge of Reservations and reservations program
  • ERES and APEX
  • Ensure accurate detailed capturing of reservations (providing accurate information, booking, work remotely with reservation office in Johannesburg.
  • Create a repour with agents and maintain relations.
  • Computer literate, MS Office Suite, Reservation systems, POS systems, financial systems (Debtors)
  • Control and manage internal transfers and allocations.
  • Perform duty manager shifts when necessary

  • Proactive, use initiative and creative flair when required
  • Active member of the Health and Safety committee
  • Knowledge of Employment equity and reporting.
  • A clear understanding of basic labour law and disciplinary procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal & problemsolving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Extremely selfmotivated, detail oriented and organized
  • Implementing, improving and trouble shooting in order to streamline systems within the front and back office.
  • Sound knowledge of all departments within hospitality
  • Professional and well groomed
  • Be willing and able to help in any area of the lodge if need be.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent time management and selfdiscipline, honest and reliable
  • Committed and loyal, adaptable and flexible
