You will be responsible for the maintenance of all current electrical installations and the repairs of any breakdowns.
You will need to be responsible, alert and cautious while enjoying a hands on approach. Effective communication with the team will be required.

Minimum Requirements

Appropriate trade test qualification obtained at a reputable institution in South Africa
At least 4 years experience in the electrical trade

Duties & Responsibilities

Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes of practice
Advise the Facilities Manager on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous and the availability of spares
Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes of practice and by laws
Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
Prepare sketches or follow electrical drawings to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes of practice and by laws
Do monthly inspections on all portable equipment and keep the relevant documentation up to date.
Do monthly earth leakage tests on all earth leakages in the plant and in the offices and keep the relevant documentation up to date
Do generator testing
Perform the role of maintenance team leader
