A challenging and exciting position exists for a suitably qualified Electrical Manager

in a well-established chemical factory in Kempton Park.


Purpose of the job
The Electrical Plant Manager reports to the Engineering Manager and has the primary responsibilities to:

  • Define and implement engineering standards, maintenance strategies and asset integrity philosophies for electrical equipment and installations in the organisation.
  • Define and implement the site electrical maintenance, engineering and reliability portfolio using CMMS software, SAP PM preferably.
  • Be the custodian for the electrical infrastructure and distribution network, interfacing with the City of Ekurhuleni and Eskom.
  • Improve plant availability through the effective utilisation of key in house and contracted electrical resources.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the execution of motors, rectifiers, transformers, electrical cabling, switches, power factors, solar farm and substations in the organisation.
  • Be an expert in preventative maintenance and compliance to statutory requirements using OEM, RCM, 5Why and RCA processes.
  • Develop and improve site compliance to statutory inspections and preventative maintenance records.
  • Be a custodian for accurate root cause analysis and problem solving to prevent repeat incidents.
  • Plan and execute annual electrical maintenance shutdowns and opportunity maintenance activities.
  • Improve master data of spare parts and the quality of work done on electrical rotable management.
  • Lead a team of maintenance supervisors and engineers in adherence to SHERQ requirements.

Experience

  • 10 years in a manufacturing plant environment, preferably chemical manufacturing
  • At least 5 years in an engineering leadership role, preferably working in a high tension to medium voltage electrical installation.
  • Extensive knowledge of the OHS Act and GMR 2 legal appointments.
  • Indepth knowledge of engineering principles and maintenance management systems (CMMS, SAP PM)
  • Sound understanding of contractor management, project management and management of change principles.
  • Computer literacy in SAP MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Projects)

Qualifications:


  • BSc, BEng or BTech in Electrical or Electronic engineering.
  • Post graduate qualification in electrical or relevant engineering field highly advantages.
  • In possession of or working towards a Government Certificate of Competency (Factories)
  • Professional engineer/technologist registration advantageous

Knowledge /Skills and Competencies

  • Extensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, No. 85 of 199
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO 14001, 45001, 9001, 5500
  • Extensive knowledge of SANS1014
  • Knowledgeable on different types of equipment related to chemical manufacturing plants.
  • Experience in managing and coordinating plant shutdowns and maintenance projects.
  • Experience in using SharePoint and Corrective Action Systems (i.e., Digilex)
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (i.e., SAP PM and MM)

Personal Circumstances:


  • Must be able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from the companies' medical centre.
  • May be required to be on Standby.
Other details


Salary:
R900K annual basic salary, highly negotiable depending on experience.
