Requirements:

B Degree in Data Engineering or related, Degree in

Computer Science.

Up to 8 years' experience in the Data Analysis and

Engineering field, of which a minimum of 5 years should

be in electricity utility operations of a power system

Minimum of 5 years in a managerial position.
Experience with database systems, distributed computing,

and big data technologies.

High level of Computer Literacy and Operational and

Information Technology commonly used in power system

operations (SCADA / EMS / GMS / DMS / OMS etc.)

Key Performance Areas

Identifies and defines the immediate, short and long term

objectives/ plans associated with the City of Cape Town

(City) Distribution System Operator.

Directs and controls the Key Performance Indicators and

outcomes of personnel

As cost centre owner, prepare capital and operating

estimates and control expenditure against the approved

budget allocations

Manage the formulation of operational and information

technology (OT and IT) contracts and tender documents,

and control the specified contractual obligations, using

project management skills

Enable datadriven decision making by automated data

collection, transforming, and publishing data on various

platforms close to real time.

Build, operationalize, secure, and monitor data

processing systems with a particular emphasis on

security and compliance with the information exchange

grid code.

Continuously improving preexisting models.
Contributes and provides input to the branch's and

Department's business and operational strategies relating

to unbundling of the electricity business sector, new

technology transforming the grid, the migration to active
