About the Role:
Are you a passionate Technician? Your journey in engineering excellence begins right here, at SMEC South Africa. We're looking for a dedicated individual to join our dynamic team in Cape Town, Roads and Highways function. The individual will be responsible for assisting Technologists/Engineers/Project Managers/Other Professionals/Consultants.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure projects are documented within set guidelines
  • Produce efficient, highquality work and documentation
  • Ensure tasks are completed according to project timelines
  • Able to use office systems relevant to tasks
  • Can make good decisions on own initiative
  • Query details suggesting more acceptable solutions
  • Take ownership and responsibility for own work
  • Awareness of time and cost implications on projects
  • Assess the risk of specific aspects of projects
  • Communicate and liaise effectively with colleagues, contractors, subcontractors and clients
  • Monitor the status of field work and generate periodic progress reports
  • Involvement on projects' life cycle from beginning to end
  • Assist with resourcing of work within the section
  • Maintain project administration and communication in terms of the company's quality management system
  • Attend and contribute to taking minutes at technical and project meetings with colleagues and client's Project Manager
  • Ability to resolve conflicts on site, or between external consultants, making sure to not aggravate any arising issues and solve conflicts in an ethical manner
  • Monitoring works and enforcing quality standards/specifications
Recommended Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Diploma in relevant field
years drafting experience

  • Demonstrative experience in the use of CAD systems
  • Experience in transportation infrastructure advantageous
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
