We are seeking a Senior Cloud Modernization Engineer to drive cloud‑native development and modernization for a major enterprise transformation initiative.
You will work within product/application engineering teams or as part of a dedicated modernization squad, helping teams rebuild, refactor, or re‑platform applications onto modern AWS architectures.
This role is ideal for a senior engineer who is passionate about building, modernizing, and engineering cloud-native solutions—not simply operating or supporting them.
You should be comfortable shaping application architectures, improving engineering practices, and enabling teams to deliver on modernization goals.Responsibilities
Cloud Development & Modernization
Lead the design and build of cloud‑native architectures, refactoring or re‑architecting legacy applications for AWS.
Implement modern infrastructure patterns including serverless, containerized, event‑driven, or microservices‑based designs.
Develop and maintain reusable IaC modules and modernization patterns.
Hands‑on Engineering
Build AWS infrastructure using Terraform and other IaC tooling.
Create and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and GitOps workflows.
Work closely with application engineers to embed cloud best practices into the development lifecycle.
Collaboration & Delivery
Partner with product teams, architects, and DevOps engineers to create secure, observable, scalable workloads.
Contribute to engineering standards, guardrails, and modernization playbooks.
Participate in architecture reviews, threat modelling, and performance optimization sessions.
Governance & Documentation
Document architectures, deployment patterns, and modernization decisions.
Ensure solutions align with enterprise security, compliance, and design requirements.
Qualifications
5+ years in cloud engineering, platform engineering, or cloud‑native development.
Strong, hands‑on AWS experience across core compute, networking, security, and application services.
Expert Terraform and solid experience with IaC, GitOps, and CI/CD tooling.
Experience modernizing applications (refactor, re‑platform, containerize, adopt managed services).
Strong understanding of cloud‑native development patterns.
Experience in enterprise or financial services environments.
Required Skills
AWS engineering (Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, RDS, SQS/SNS, etc.)
Terraform and Infrastructure‑as‑Code.
CI/CD engineering using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab, Bitbucket Pipelines, or Jenkins.
Containerization (Docker) and orchestration (ECS/EKS).
IAM, VPCs, networking, cloud security best practices.
Observability tooling (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
Ability to work in complex enterprise environments.
Preferred Skills
Experience modernising financial markets or low‑latency systems.
Exposure to audit‑heavy or evidence‑based change frameworks.
AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or equivalent).
