Duties and Responsibilities
Legal Management, record keeping and assistance in several
departments on legal issues and risks;
- Ensure legal policy guidelines implementation and adherence.
- Provide professional, written and oral legal advice, to the executives and officers, to reasonably complex legal and legal policy issues.
- Contribute to formulate and develop legal strategy, plans and budget for the legal services department.
- Review all contracts entered by the company and give input/feedback on the same and organise signatures.
- Review, draft and negotiate service agreements, annual maintenance contracts, technology agreements, software licensing agreements, and confidentiality and nondisclosure agreements.
- Draft contracts and other legal documents to be entered by the company.
- Develop customized agreements, offers and lease documents for developments and existing portfolio.
- Interact with service providers/vendors and negotiate terms to draw up agreements that comply with
- Coordinate with different departments namely;
- Assist HR on revising/reviewing employment contracts to facilitate recruitment or dismissal of employees and ensure its conformity to relevant labour laws.
- General management work matters which includes record keeping and administration, department payments, monthly reporting on matters, etc.
- Deal with all aspects of legal advice, including the drafting and reviewing of contracts (e.g. lease agreements shareholders agreements, land sale agreements, financing agreements, joint venture contracts intercompany agreements) and management (this shall include having company template and standard agreements and reviewing current templates and standard agreements); overseeing all the legal matters required including collections, research furnishing legal opinion(s) as required, instructions to external attorneys, acting as legal counsel in all areas of law ranging from commercial law, labour (including arranging/conducting disciplinary enquiries), tax, property/land, accounting, finance, company, corporate, insurance, etc. as required.
Ensuring Legal Compliance with new business laws and regulations;
- Oversee compliance matters including FICA with debtors and third parties, company and tax compliance, intercompany compliance management, record keeping of board resolutions, finance agreement terms, lease and third party agreements compliance, etc. as and when required from time to time.
- Keep the company updated with regards to new business laws and regulations
- Assist the company, its subsidiaries and related entities on the foregoing and on all areas where your assistance is deemed appropriate. This could include being a company representative in certain forums and/or committee(s) meetings, organisations or association, etc
Matric
Experience
Law degree (LLB/BA Law/BCom law)
- Articles and Admission as Attorney
- 5+ years post articles experience, which includes 2 years
Skills and Knowledge
Very high quality of written and verbal communication skills with excellent command of English
