An opportunity for an experienced JUNIOR IT TECHNICIAN is required for permanent employment based in Dundee.

• To support the daily operational IT needs of all staff

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

User Access Control

• User registration, privilege management, password changes, deletion and access right reviews

Troubleshooting

• Hardware (PCs, laptops & peripherals), software (Desktop & Server Operating Systems and other line of business applications), network (Managed switches & Wi-Fi Access Points), printing (Laser, Dot Matrix & USB/LPT Print Servers) and user issues

Hardware setup

• Setup of new laptops/desktops, loading relevant software & user migration
• Setup of new printers
• Connection of new VoIP phones

Daily tasks

• Walk along all fibre routes and report anomalies, such as construction that may impact conduits/cables, any exposed cables, etc.
• Check all switches & cabinets report fault lights, unsecured cabinets, untidy cabling, etc.
• Check all printers report fault lights or physical damage
• Check all biometric readers report fault lights or physical damage
• Check all cameras report offline cameras to CCTV vendor

Weekly tasks

• Physical workstation condition checks
• Physical printer condition checks & pre-emptive maintenance

Monthly tasks

• UPS load testing
• Workstation cleaning

Wi-Fi

• Assist with user onboarding

CCTV & Biometrics

• Basic "remote hands" troubleshooting
• Liaising with vendors

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• A+ and N+ or similar qualifications
• 2 years work experience in a similar role in a medium size organization (support of 30+ users)
• Microsoft Windows Servers
• Microsoft Windows Desktops running Microsoft Office
• VMware Hypervisors
• Veeam Backups
• Fortigate firewall

SKILLS:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and deadline orientated
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Must be accustomed to working on various issues simultaneously and ensuring the integrity of each project
• Strong problem solving skills
• Must be able to prioritize
