SENIOR LECTURER

- The African Tax Institute in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences is looking for someone who can further that competitive advantage, and, therefore, is able to bring something innovative to the institute, as well as someone able to extend the institute's international reach and its research network._
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Conducting advanced research in any facet of Public Economics, Tax Policy, Tax Law, Taxation, Tax Governance or Tax Administration, in a developing-country context;
- Publishing research in local and international accredited journals;
- Supervising postgraduate students on research topics in field of Tax Policy, Tax Law, Taxation, Tax Governance and Tax Administration; and
- Teaching postgraduate programmes in Tax Policy, Tax Law, Taxation, Tax Governance and Tax Administration.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A relevant doctoral degree, preferably in the fields of Public Economics, Tax Policy, Tax Law, Taxation, Tax Governance or Tax Administration.
- Lecturing experience;
- Evidence of postgraduate supervision; and
- Experience in research and/or involvement in research activities.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- The ability to independently plan and initiate discipline-related teaching and research;
- The ability to integrate work from a variety of related disciplines
- The ability to collaborate and participate in research and project initiatives;
- Appropriate language proficiency and communication skills; and
- Computer literacy.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
- Existing network and collaboration in taxrelated research;
- A publication record indicating at least national standing;
- Experience of taxrelated research in an African context;
- Involvement in disciplinerelated professional activities and/or entities;
- Research experience in the public sector and/or multilateral international organisations.
- A comprehensive CV;
- Certified copies of qualifications;
- Selfevaluation (Teaching and Research portfolio)
