    Key Responsibilities

    We are seeking an individual who can translate business requirements into executable code without errors. The ideal candidate will find effective software solutions to technical issues and ensure applications perform as required by the business.

    Key Areas of Responsibility

    Source Code Development

    • Implement Technical Specifications using Java or Magic programming languages.
    • Produce source code adhering to DHS technical standards and referencing exposed sub-processes.
    • Update reference documentation and scheduling tools with progress.
    • Consult with BA and Architect on technical issues.
    • Document logic and comments within code.

    Unit Testing

    • Conduct unit testing and fix defects found.
    • Review error logs and provide updates to the Business Analyst.
    • Consult and assist the BA in reviewing defects.
    • Release source code with zero defects.

    Defects Root Cause Analysis

    • Respond to incidents escalated by the Incidents team.
    • Log issues in the appropriate tracking system.
    • Conduct preliminary analysis on issues.
    • Verify and validate build stability.

    Required Attributes and Skills

    • Learning orientation, analytical problem-solving, prioritization, planning, stress management, action orientation.

    Technical Skills

    • Business writing, software development within SDLC, data modeling.

    Education and Experience

    • Matric with English and Mathematics.
    • Relevant tertiary IT qualification (desirable).
    • Less than one year experience in source code development.
    • Knowledge of SDLC, Unit testing, database structure design, technical change control.
    • Technical knowledge of Java, Magic, SQL, Oracle, eBlogic, C, Cognos, XML, TopLink/Hibernate.
