We aim to nurture and inspire resilient Earthchildren who are deeply connected to - and take positive action for - themselves, the environment and their communities.

Our holistic education programmes focus on life skills, wellness and the environment, working with teachers, children and youth. _

  • Earthchild Project works across eight primary schools in Khayelitsha and Lavender Hill, reaching over 4500 children and 100 teachers every week. We run a variety of programmes including yoga, worm farming, eco clubs, leadership training, holiday programmes, camps and teacher training._

CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANT (3-MONTH CONTRACT)


Earthchild Project seeks a highly skilled and experienced Curriculum Development Consultant to assist in consolidating and finalizing seven programme curriculums, which are currently in various stages of development.

Key responsibilities for the
Curriculum Development Consultant will include:

  • Oversee Curriculum Development project from start to finish.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of existing curriculum materials, documenting gaps, recommendations and resource suggestions.
  • Collaborate with relevant Earthchild Project team members as well as focus area experts, to complete the seven curriculums, including updating existing lessons and development of new lessons.
  • Develop design brief and work closely with a graphic designer to create visually appealing and userfriendly curriculum manuals and resources.
  • Incorporate principles of environmental sustainability, mindfulness, and holistic and experiential education into the curriculum design where appropriate.
  • Ensure that the curriculums are culturally sensitive and relevant to the communities served by Earthchild Project.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the Earthchild Project team to provide updates on curriculum development progress and gather feedback.
  • Utilize ChatGPT and other relevant tools to enhance content development and curriculum design processes.
The
Curriculum Development Consultant must meet the following requirements:

  • Proven experience in curriculum development, preferably in the context of primary education and under-resourced communities.
  • Strong understanding of educational principles, instructional design methodologies, and curriculum standards.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and cultural sensitivity.
  • Proficiency in using ChatGPT or similar AI tools for content development is required.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote work environment.
