    Job Summary

    We are seeking a reputable Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant to join our team at Dis-Chem Woodmead store. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care, meeting patient's medicine-related needs, and being accountable for these needs.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines or scheduled substances
    • Compound, manipulate, or prepare non-sterile medicines or scheduled substances according to approved procedures
    • Manufacture non-sterile medicines or scheduled substances according to approved procedures
    • Re-package medicine
    • Distribute and control stock of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines or scheduled substances
    • Order medicine and scheduled substances up to Schedule 6 according to authorized instructions
    • Read and prepare prescriptions, select, manipulate, or compound medicine, label and supply in appropriate containers following prescription interpretation and evaluation by pharmacist
    • Accurately interpret scripts and act within legal requirements in accordance with SAPC
    • Capture script details accurately and verify patients' details on system
    • Ensure accurate picking/packing/labelling and checking of medication, aware of common dosages and drug interactions
    • Give accurate instructions to patients regarding correct use of medicine supplied
    • Keep abreast of changes in medical aid procedures and requirements for claims and dispensing
    • Ensure all medications checked for accuracy signed by pharmacist
    • Advise and assist patients at dispensary, self-medication, and front-shop
    • Follow up with patients regarding script tracking report as requested by dispensary manager, follow up on appointments
    • Explain medical aid costs to patients
    • Provide information to promote health
    • Process paperwork for accurate submission of claims to medical aids
    • Ensure authorization of chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication
    • Maintain customer profiles on system
    • Merge profiles locally and UCS notified to merge centrally
    • Note any message on customer profile and take suitable action
    • Report low/out of stock levels, stock errors to dispensary manager
    • Receive dispensary stock in accordance with SOPs, merchandise according to FEFO
    • Facilitate bi-annual stock takes
    • Exercise stock, cash, and asset control

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 / Matric qualification
    • Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification
    • Registered with South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
    • Working experience on Unisolv
    • Computer literate - MS Office
    • Sound numerical skills
    • Strong command of English language and second language
    • Willing and able to work retail hours
