Description

Purpose
To supervise the co-ordination of production processes to meet the production targets. To manage

performance on shifts, take responsibility of product control and SHEQ within the section and all

aspects of continuous improvement


Main Responsibilities (not limited to):


  • To supervise team and monitor production process flow in line with the systems and standard
operating procedures

  • To implement daily production plan by establishing priorities, scheduling and assigning
resources, monitoring progress and engaging the Section Head to revise production schedule

  • To ensure that the flow of resources like raw materials is maintained and that production items
are delivered as needed and used properly and efficiently

  • To check quality production output, implement costsaving strategies and techniques to ensure
quality standards are met on a continuous basis

  • To evaluate and monitor the condition of production equipment and engage PEM Department
to ensure maintenance of the equipment

  • To compile and analyse production records, collate daily reports on balancing of work orders
and production and provide daily shift production report to the Section Head.

  • To ensure balancing of work orders and production, monitor and ensure that record keeping
of the work processed and delivered in the department

  • To contribute to continuous improvement by constantly looking for solutions to ensure the
delivery daily production volumes, compliance with standard operating procedures and work

instructions

  • To supervise team performance through development, coaching and mentoring staff on how
to achieve an optimal output or workflow.

  • To ensure that staff members have clear work expectations and goals as set out in
performance management process and conducts performance appraisals as per policy

requirements

  • To compile individual development plan (IDP) for staff to close identified skills gaps and ensure
implementation of the IDP.

  • To ensures recruitment specifications are provided to the Section Head and Human Resources
Department for implementation and participates in the recruitment and selection process

  • To manage and resolve conflicts within the department, ensures proper implementation of the
Disciplinary and Grievance policies and procedures, and assists with conducting of disciplinary

hearings

  • To manage and control time and attendance of staff and provide relevant information in terms
of overtime, leave, shift work, standby to HR within set deadlines

  • To maintain communication between management and the team to ensure compliance with
SHEQ requirements as well as other internal policies, procedures and processes.

  • To oversee housekeeping within department, ensure maintenance of a clean and safe working
environment

  • To ensure health, safety, environmental and quality regulations and standards are adhered to
in line with the legal requirements.

  • To conduct incident, accident and nonconformity investigations and associated reporting and
action closure

  • N3 / Matric
  • Printing Trade (Essential)
  • Diploma in Production Management or Equivalent (Essential)
  • 5 years' experience within the manufacturing industry of which 12 years should be at a
supervisory level. Printing Industry experience Desirable
