Duties and Responsibilities
Communications '" PR
- Drafting press releases, awards submissions and media pitches
- Distribution of press releases and media pitches
- Preparing media briefing notes
- Monitoring forward features lists for opportunities
- Daily news scanning to identify commentary opportunities
- Maintenance of target journalist lists, forward features, and awards calendar
- Work with others in the marketing and business development team to ensure sector and practice area campaigns and initiatives translate into quality media engagement and thought leadership coverage
- Engaging with the global digital team to ensure pertinent campaigns are being promoted in innovative ways
- Assist with the drafting and updating of contact sheets, experience statements, credentials materials and client relationship statements
Communications '" Internal
Drafting of internal comms for new joiners, international days, long service awards, significant religious holidays etc
Blog
- Work with the business development and marketing team to produce pieces of content for PR and online communication channels of the firm eg Inside Africa blog contributions
- Upload of blogs to the Financial Institutions Legal Snapshot and briefing in content to global blog platforms eg workplace insider
Events
- Supporting the organization of media events, journalist briefings and roundtables
- Supporting the organization of Director's conference and Associate weekend away
- Supporting the organization of various firm events such as Yearend function, Spring Day, Secretaries Day, Nelson Mandela Day etc
- Assist with design of invitations utilizing Vuture
Digital communications
- Preparing and drafting social media and website press
- Ensure the Practice group and Sector intranet and internet web pages are up to date
Reporting
- Logging daily South African press coverage and media activity into the team database
- Compiling daily, weekly and monthly PR reports for key campaigns, sectors, practices and regions
Submissions '" directories and awards
- Owning overall timetable for South Africa to ensure we meet the deadlines and that all submissions include the right communications messages
- Ensuring statistics/rankings are fed back into the correct systems and profiled appropriately
- Ensure that the business rankings in selected directories are monitored and communicated internally within the business, as well as in external communiques where appropriate and relevant
Miscellaneous / Ad hoc
Any other communications duties as directed reasonably by the South African Head of Marketing
Qualifications, Experience & other Attributes
- Marketing or PR diploma or degree
- Five years' experience in a marketing/corporate communications role (agency or corporate)
- Marketing technology '" Vuture
- Proactive, actionoriented, ambitious and willing to take initiative
- Practical and efficient with strong organizational and time and project management skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Collaborative and enjoys working as part of a highperforming and international team
- Sound working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- A strong interest in learning more about professional services marketing and communications
