    Description

    Job Title: Specialist Product Engineer

    A leading company in the banking sector is seeking a skilled Specialist Product Engineer for a 12-month contract in Johannesburg.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Apply critical thinking, design thinking, and problem-solving skills in an agile team environment to resolve technical issues with high-quality solutions.
    2. Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, including analysis, problem definition, business requirements, solution development, and recommendations for operational feasibility.
    3. Produce well-organized, optimized, and documented source code to deliver technical solutions quickly.
    4. Ensure designs and solutions adhere to technical organization principles of self-service, repeatability, testability, scalability, and resilience.
    5. Apply general design patterns and paradigms to deliver technical solutions.
    6. Support the development of CI/CD Pipelines, authoring and supporting pipelines in Jenkins or similar tools, and deploying to multi-site Kubernetes environments.
    7. Leverage modern observability techniques, such as aggregated logging via ELK stack, metrics via Prometheus/Grafana/NewRelic, and tracing using Zipkin/Jaeger.
    8. Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting, such as Jenkins, Docker, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
    9. Debug existing source code and refine feature sets.
    10. Collaborate with integrated teams and other developers to improve and evolve technical products and services.
    11. Align application development and development processes with Group Architecture and Infrastructure guidelines.
    12. Provide input to project and program teams on planning and managing the development lifecycle.
    13. Conduct reviews, performance monitoring, and ongoing optimization and maintenance of applications.
    14. Stay ahead of emerging technologies and development practices, and continuously update knowledge and skills.

    Collaboration

    1. Participate in peer reviews, testing, and problem-solving within and across the broader team.
    2. Support the people change teams in developing user materials (Customer, Employee, and 3rd Party Adoption).

    Risk & Governance

    1. Identify technical risks and mitigate them (pre, during, and post-release).
    2. Update or design application documentation aligned to organizational technical standards and risk/governance frameworks.
    3. Participate in incident management and DR activities, applying critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical expertise to resolve major incidents.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • At least 4 years of industry experience.
    • Minimum of 4 years of C# .Net Development Experience.

    Desirable Skills:

    • .NET - C# {OOP} / Windows application/Web application

    • SQL

    Remuneration

    R650 - R750 per hour
