REPORTING LINE:
Head of Business Development


1. PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE OF POSITION


To support business development to achieve the overarching business strategy through market positioning, research, engagement with potential clients and delivery of social investment solutions to clients, in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.

Gain access to and manage relationships with relevant client decision makers and Influencers.


Drive direct Business to Business Sales:

  • Lead all aspects of the Sales process, while calling upon other Business Development / Sales resources to assist in solution development, pricing, proposal delivery, and implementation, as needed or as directed by management.
  • Sell the complete Services Offerings suite of Fund Management and Advisory Services to assigned opportunities
  • Facilitate proposal development for potential and current clients in collaboration with Client Relationship Managers.
  • Drive accurate pipeline management, forecasting, and achievement of the sales plan for the portfolio of services in assigned accounts.
  • Lead the researching and profiling of prospective clients.
  • Ensure a seamless transition of customer responsibility to the Social Impact, Client Relationship Management and Implementation teams following a successful sale.
  • Track pipeline of new business prospects.
  • Attend Sales/BD meetings with the Head of Business Development and external clients.

Drive Business Development Processes Improvement And Key Projects:

  • Contribute to the development of Sales/Business Development Strategy and Implementation Plan.
  • Lead in developing the business capability to develop BD presentation materials and proposals for management.
  • Proactively contribute to the improvement of internal processes including:
  • Pricing models used by business development
  • Market Research and Analysis
  • Competitor analysis
  • Industry trends in key target markets
  • Assess alternative business models in conjunction with the Head of Business Development to identify the most effective ways of selling products/services to customers.
  • Identify and develop the company's unique selling propositions and differentiators.
  • Perform first line of proposal review (quality assurance) prior to signoff by Head of Business Development, Head of Social Impact and Exco.
  • Monitor team action items to ensure tasks are delivered (first line of management analysts).

Marketing Portfolio Contribution:

Assist the Head of Business Development in managing the marketing portfolio:

  • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Officer to provide specialist knowledge
  • Contribute towards the development of the annual Marketing Plan
  • Contribute to the positioning of the business externally as an expert fund management and advisory organisation.
  • Contribute towards marketing content
  • Contribute towards marketing and development of new gotomarket strategies
  • Attend marketing meetings with internal stakeholders and service providers
  • Monitor that action items related to marketing are delivered timeously, in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Officer

Client Fund Strategy:


  • Provide input into the development of allocated client strategies:
  • Participate in strategy development meetings, providing sector and BD expertise
  • Engage with clients on their needs and provide input into strategies that align clients' needs with sector position and opportunities
  • Review the final approved strategy within SLA
  • Participate in the design and develop programmes to deliver the approved client strategies:
  • Evaluate approved strategies
  • Identify programme opportunities
  • Develop programmes and submit for approval
  • Implement programmes within programme plan timelines
  • Interface with the SI team to facilitate grant recipients to fulfil client strategy, as and when required:
  • Engage with Fund Management team members to select appropriate grant recipients
  • Engage with grant recipients to define and refine programmes to deliver the required strategic deliverables and address any grant nondelivery
  • Identify and resolve challenges that impact on the ability for client strategies to be delivered.

Sector Expertise:


  • Maintain expert levels of knowledge of Social Investment (SI) by conducting SI research, participating in SI discussion forums, engaging with sector and industry experts and academics and participating in relevant conferences.
  • Develop and present expert opinions and research papers on SI by conducting research, drafting articles or papers,
submitting for review and publishing in relevant media

  • Identify and deliver on opportunities to increase market positioning and expertise within sector and clients by providing sector insights and expertise, identifying potential opportunities and fulfilling the role as industry and sector expert as and when required.
