Introduction

  • Responsible primarily for the effective and efficient distribution management of Pharmaceutical stock and to maximize return on customer deliveries and deliver key distribution objectives in line with the overall business objectives.
    Job description
  • Oversee warehouse operations.
  • To effectively and efficiently manage the daytoday distribution operations for the warehouse including inter alia operations, customers, people and processes.
  • Cost management, including budgetary alignment and capital expenditure (CAPEX).
  • Management of the Distribution customer interface; ensuring customer satisfaction and business growth.
  • Responsible to ensure that security and loss control is in line with company guidelines & policies as well as managing pharmaceutical compliance as per regulations.
  • Leads and manages all of the activities of the supervisors in the departments of Receiving, Put-Away, Picking, Packing, Shipping, and Inventory Control and holds direct reports for all daytoday activities.
  • Sets the standard for leadership in the warehouse and leads by example. Leads in a manner that is consistent with our organizational culture.
  • Promotes employee development, creative thinking, empowerment, and twoway communication.
  • Is accountable for the management and productivity of staff within the functional area and the associated costs.
  • Ensures that all policies and procedures are followed accurately and efficiently.
  • Oversees administrative staff to ensure that an even flow of orders are released per the order picking schedule.
  • Reviews all internal reports to measure and assess operational effectiveness, to ensure timely shipment of all orders and adherence to operational goals.
  • Resolves problems that prevent a timely and efficient handling of inbound and outbound orders.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with all regulatory and operational procedures.
  • Conducts meetings with staff to review performance/results and perform operational training.
  • Ensures that all department training needs are satisfied.
  • Assists in preparing and maintaining SOP's for Distribution Centre.
  • Communicates with Facilities Department to ensure that preventative maintenance is completed on all stretch wrappers, forklifts, walkieriders, palletizers, dockdoors/plates, scales, freezers, heaters, lights, material handling equipment and internal assets.
  • Prepares a variety of reports, including Operational Updates for leadership, Gap Analysis and shares the information on an ongoing basis.
  • Optimize stock levels, availability and management.
  • Manage the transport cost related to the distribution function (internal & courier)

Minimum requirements

  • Education and Qualification
  • Business Degree or diploma Essential
  • Knowledge of operational safety and health requirement
  • Experience managing transportation related cost and routing of vehicles
  • Experience related to stock management (ideally) in a thirdparty environment
  • Experience managing sizable teams of people and resources
  • Experience with warehouse capacity management and product / people flow within warehouse environments
  • Possess current knowledge of regulatory requirements
