    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Manager to join our team at Platinum-Placements. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to lead our production operations and drive business growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Schedule and monitor Production activities, ensuring timely completion of tasks and projects.
    • Maintain manufacturing /production efficiencies by implementing process improvements and optimizing resource allocation.
    • Balance the production lines (manning levels) to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.
    • Monitor the achievement of daily production targets and investigate any variances or issues.
    • Set up ancillary process equipment for the manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
    • Prepare, set, and adjust manufacturing and production machine conditions to achieve output at the correct quality and quantity.
    • Control the manufacturing/production processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
    • Adjust and maintain production processes and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
    • Take corrective action where necessary to prevent downtime or disruptions.
    • Responsible for the quality of production, working closely with the Quality Assurance department to resolve any quality issues.
    • Comply with all statutory requirements, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and industry best practices.

    Raw Material Management

    • Monitor the level of production material to ensure sufficient stock to support production demands.
    • Supervise monthly stock counts, ensuring accurate records and inventory management.
    • Count stock for integrity checks, verifying product condition during the count.

    Material Handling and Maintenance

    • Handle and care for materials, ensuring safe storage and handling practices.
    • Identify rejects and process waste, minimizing unnecessary costs and environmental impact.
    • Report material issues/concerns, addressing them promptly to prevent delays or disruptions.
    • Anticipate and troubleshoot machine functionality, performing minor repairs to reduce downtime.
    • Monitor maintenance of manufacturing equipment, tooling, and equipment, scheduling regular maintenance and repairs as needed.

    Contribution Improvement and People Management

    • Identify opportunities for improvements, applying continuous improvement principles to drive business growth.
    • Counsel and coach people to ensure improved levels of performance, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
    • Manage absenteeism, late coming, overtime, misconduct, and other personnel-related issues, ensuring discipline and accountability within the department.
    • Plan and facilitate on-the-job training and multi-skilling of production teams, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
    • Motivate production operators to practice correct work habits, providing on-the-job training for new operators and ensuring adherence to safety standards and procedures.
    • Ensure SACO payroll submissions are done accurately and timeously, including clockings and exceptions.
    • Report issues/concerns with the SACO time & attendance system to the Payroll department.

    Safe Working Environment

    • Ensure safe working conditions and the application of safe working practices in all areas of the department.
    • Report any unsafe equipment, working conditions, and practices to the Production Manager.
    • Ensure machines and production areas are kept clean and tidy at all times in accordance with good housekeeping principles.
    • Ensure that all safe working procedures are adhered to by subordinates at all times.
    • Ensure availability and correct use of protective clothing and equipment.
    • Ensure all safety devices in the plant are operating correctly.
