  • What will your role be?_
The position of "Project Support Officer" is within Portfolio Management Team. This team is at the core of the various activities in the Southern Africa region.

The team is responsible for, but not limited to, monitoring and managing fiduciary risk, contractual risk, reputational risk and financial risk.

The ideal should have clear understanding of financial principles, reporting and reconciliations.


In addition to that, you must have an understanding of commercial law in order to read and understand the various financial agreements regulating the relationships between the company and its clients.

Under the supervision of the Regional Portfolio Manager, you as the Project Support Officer will be expected to perform the following tasks:

Financial risk management duties

  • Analyse, monitor and take appropriate measures toward irregularities (known or anticipated) in respect with projects under your supervision, and suggest correctives actions to be taken to resolve, diminish or eliminate the risk.
  • Contribute to project restructuring, contractual amendments and waivers in collaboration with the concerned internal departments
  • Manage and monitor the guarantee statements received from counterparts.
  • Analyse credit risk and contribute to the analysis of market and operational risks of projects under your supervision.
Legal and compliance duties

  • Interpreting and implementing financial clauses relating to financing agreements
  • Monitoring financial, information and other covenants, as well as monitoring of events of defaults for project under your supervision.
  • Monitor, verify and update the due diligence as well as verification of documents related to knowyourcustomer.
  • Monitor and ensure that all regulatory documents for projects financed
Disbursements, debts repayment and recovery duties

  • Monitor and ensure coherency check of all notices of amounts dues sent to clients
  • Monitor loan repayment schedules and follow up on outstanding instalments
  • Control and verification of all supporting documents presented as part of request for disbursements of funds.
  • Process the disbursements of loans and grants according to the procedure in place, while ensuring that payment mechanism are respected about the respective signed agreement.
  • Ensure that all IS are updated once payment is processed by treasury.
Participation and organization of portfolio reviews

  • Ensure an adequate flow of information with various departments within the GROUP (project review meetings, preparation and implementation of action plans, sharing of good practices, drafting and preparation of reportings, training and presentation of the duties of the Portfolio Management team).
  • Participate in the drafting of the periodic portfolio management reports for both regional office and head office.
Others duties and responsibilities

  • Analysing and verification of projects audit reports, paying special attention to the auditors feedbacks and recommendations, as well as following up on outstanding audits reports for project under your supervision.
  • Administrative tasks related to portfolio management

Someone with a banking background or understanding of financial and risk management principles, as per job profile.
Good comprehension of financial and risk management

  • Experience of financial accounting principles, concepts and procedures
  • Experience of corporate financial reporting
  • Strong numerical and financial skills
  • Proven database handling skills
  • Experience of quantitative analysis
  • Good understanding of commercial law
  • Strong analytical, synthesis and writing skills
  • Must have a BCOM in Financial Management or Accounting and at least 5 years experience in accounting or financial management.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and understand complexity

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with different types of audiences in different contexts
